I’m not a huge Target home shopper. I love to walk through their aisles and I adore the newest collections from Studio McGee and Hearth and Hand, but many times, their pieces become disposable after only a few years. This year, I’m really pairing down my belongings. I’m focusing more on collections that aren’t trendy, but ones that hold much more quality. I’m more working on the hunt to find the one that is just right over a quick add to cart. Are you feeling much the same?
So I took to Target to really walk their aisles…and I mean REALLY walk their aisles. I was looking for pieces that were made well, could be verified with online reviews, and were priced well to match. Typically, you don’t get all three. Something that is quality is generally priced extremely high (peep the $85 table lamp that I fell in love with there).
What I came up with through this trip was a round-up of 11 pieces that are sturdy, beautiful, quality, budget-friendly, and to say it bluntly, would not seem like they were sold at a Target store (I love you, but if you know, you know).
1. Flared Brim Stoneware Canister in Vintage Cream

This cannister comes in two separate sizes – 99 ounces or 122 ounces. Perfect sizes to fit your flour, sugar, or coffee on your countertop, but also a beautiful piece to just simply display on your counter or in your hutch. This pieces looks much more expensive than it is (coming in at $19.99 or $22.99, depending on size), and could be taken as an heirloom or something you picked up at a much pricier retailer. Thick stoneware, beautiful vintage coloring, and a quality and look of something from long ago.
2. 20″ x 8″ Marble and Wood Serving Board

I was shocked when I saw that not only how quality this marble and wood serving board, but that it only costs $30! Pieces like this are commonly found in a Crate & Barrel, William Sonoma, or West Elm for upwards of $100. This is a heavy serving board that has a substantial handle to allow for an easy carry, but also with the ability to be hung from the wall to store. The colors and the textures of this piece give such a timeless appeal that elevates the look of your dining table or your wall or cabinet where it’s stored. This serving board serves a double use as a piece to display your charcuterie board or as a beautiful decoration to your kitchen or dining area.
3. Gallery Wall Frames

When you’re trying to create a gallery wall or even just a cohesive frame choice through your whole home, it’s extremely difficult to find all the varying sizes you need. I love how Target created this WIDE ASSORTMENT of gallery wall frames at multiple size choices in each color tone. Choose from white, black, gold, or wood tone at four different size choices. All frames range from $16-30 each. The quality and the reviews on these frames is unmatched by any competitor, with 94% of the 1450 reviewers recommending this product to others.
4. Spa Plush Bath Towel

The level of quality and softness of these towels is truly unrivaled. I have spent far too much of my life searching for a bath towel that holds up to daily use and constant washes and still holds up for any length of time. Many times they lose their softness overtime, begin to come apart at the seams, or lose their color quickly. When I began purchasing these towels based on these reviews, I was so pleasantly surprised! At $22 for the extra large bath towel, it is a bit pricier than those that you can find at Home Goods, but the quality of these towels makes these more of an investment piece that will last years longer than the others you’d find at a lesser price point. You’ve just got to feel how soft these are!
5. Pillowfort Kids Cotton Sheet Sets

I’ve used these sheets since my babies were actually babies and I will not choose another brand until they grow out of these patterns. The cotton sheet sets are such a crisp, substantial sheet set that withstands weekly washes (or more during potty training), the tossing and turning of little kids sleeping, and even the occasional jumping of your little monkeys. They have the most darling patterns that you and your kids will both love. Be warned: DO NOT purchase the microfiber sheet sets from Pillowfort. Please stick with the substantial cotton sets. The microfiber are too slick to ever stay pulled over your mattress cover and are in a constant jumble in the middle of the bed. They also wear quickly and are prone to tears.
6. French Country Easel Floor Mirror

Target has such a beautiful assortment of mirrors in the most high-end looking wood tones and colors. I have found such quality mirrors from here that I still have hanging in my half bathroom, daughter’s bedroom, and soon to be in our basement guest room. One floor mirror that I’ve been so drawn to and am reading the best reviews on is their French Country Floor Mirror. The wood detail and the easel feature makes it a mirror that you can place anywhere from your child’s bedroom to your primary, in the corner of your living room or in a guest room. Mirrors can be a large investment so it’s important to seek out the ones of this level of quality and reviews.
7. 1’10″x3’11” Welcome Estate Doormat

I am consistently drawn to a simple and clean welcome mat for a front porch, and I was shocked at the size of this Welcome Mat that Target is carrying. It’s an extra large size, coming in at almost 2′ x 4,’ making it a stunning show piece for your front porch. It can be layered over a 3′ x 5′ outdoor rug (like my favorite layering rugs) or can be a solid piece all on its own. Coming in at $25, it’s beautiful, substantial, but also considerably more budget-friendly than the high-end retailers that sell the exact same style and size.
8. Crochet Trim Shower Curtain

The crochet accent of this shower curtain creates the most beautiful texture to this cream shower curtain. I absolutely adore the look and character of this piece and the quality of the actual cotton curtain. Target is known for a gorgeous assortment of shower curtains, but this one stands out for its quality and look, by far. Online reviews are resounding on this one!
9. 11″ Porcelain Beaded Rim Dinner Plate White

These plates are timeless and simple, yet make a statement on your table from the everyday dinner to the holiday tablescapes. The textured beaded ring makes these standout and appear much more high-end than they actually are. At FIVE DOLLARS per plate, these are shockingly budget-friendly for the absolute quality, look, and elegance of these plates. These are absolutely the plates I will be changing over to as my current plates are chipping. This whole collection is just perfection.
10. 18 oz. Porcelain Serving Bowl

To match the gorgeous plate settings, these Threshold serving bowls are a beautiful mix of traditional and modern with the wide lip and substantial base. The flared lip to these serving bowls allow for you to easily grab and carry these serving bowls from kitchen to table. And as an added bonus, this porcelain bowl is microwave and dishwasher safe, making it much easier to clean than any high-end dish you may find of the similar quality.
11. Ceramic Citronella Jar Candle

Studio McGee created the most beautiful citronella candle this season that I can’t wait to pull out and use on my back patio this summer (although I’m dreading the bugs already). You so rarely find a citronella candle that you actually want to display in the middle of your outdoor tables. These are ceramic jars that have a tie-dye type pattern to them that make for a great touch of summer color, as well as create a beautiful ambiance while you’re entertaining guests or just sitting outside watching your kids play. Although they are on the pricier side, I love to refill these with my own homemade citronella candle from a recipe like Don’t Waste the Crumbs recipe found HERE. These gorgeous ceramic bowls can be reused as much as you’d like, or you can repurpose to be a jewelry or key dish inside your front door. Just a beautiful show piece with function!
Target can be a great place to get staple clothing or groceries, but they also hold some of the most beautiful, timeless (and budget-friendly!!) home decor pieces that will bring such beauty to your home for years to come. Now THOSE are the pieces I strive to find.
