Happy March 1st! A new season is upon us and the weather, the trees, and my spirit are all changing for the better! Something about the changing out of February (how does the shortest month always seem so long?!) puts a pep in everyone’s step. It’s like we know we’re coming out of hibernation and all our moods reflect that.
And with the changing of the season comes brighter colors outside and in! Today, I’m sharing how I spiced up our coffee area with some beautiful pieces from Target’s Dollar Aisle that came out this spring. Although I’m not able to link to the Dollar Aisle pieces directly, I’ll share sources where you can score equivalent pieces at great prices just in case your Target is out of stock already.

To create this look, I used a beautiful beaded wooden cake stand as my base. I love to elevate and cluster pieces together to keep items on my countertop confined. It tricks the eye into seeing your counter as organized, even with more pieces.
I found this adorable scalloped basket tray in Target’s Dollar Aisle that I used to display my glass mugs that I’ve fallen in love with this season. Check your Target right away for these pieces because they are such great quality and will for sure fly off the shelves this season! And if you didn’t find them in time, check out these pieces that will mimic the look and are in stock now!

To add a pop of color, I placed a springtime plaid towel draping out of the tray, and added the most precious fabric carrots to brighten it up even more. These come in a 2-pack for $10 and are surprisingly quality! They absorb really well, wash even better, and look so beautiful in the kitchen this time of year!
These pink hobnail glasses are my absolute favorite glasses to use everyday for a fun pop of color, or to decorate your table for family and friends at any time of year. I use these glasses more than our typical ones because they are the perfect size, sturdy but not too heavy, and just a great piece to add a subtle color to a table. Why not have a little fun with your drinks!

Finally, I’ve turned completely over to the concept of grinding my own coffee beans, and what better way to store/display my beans than with a great lidded mason jar. Convenient, simple, and a great little show piece to add to the bar!

If you haven’t tried grinding your beans yet, I’m not always the best influencer, but THIS is something I hope to influence you on! I had always gone for inexpensive, ground coffee for as long as I can remember because I genuinely believed that there wouldn’t be much of a difference. I can admit it when I am wrong…and I was wrong! Your coffee just tastes fresher. It tastes smoother. And I think making it more of a process makes it feel more of a ritual. Something special for YOU each and every morning. This is the grinder I picked up and these are the beans that I’ve fallen in love with. Any favorites that I should try?
And of course, the star of the show: the percolator.

I’ve started to rid my kitchen of plastics this year after reading way too many pieces talking about the dangers of them. I can tend to deep dive, and I most certainly reached the deepest depths on this one. When plastics are heated, they release chemicals into the food or liquid that is being heated. So when you have dishes in Tupperware, you aren’t supposed to heat them in the microwave because the plastic will leach out some pretty nasty stuff directly in your food. Ahhh…disgusting, right?!
Well, when I looked around my kitchen, I realized something I use every single day, my coffee pot, is made up of almost ALL plastic pieces. So as that hot water gets heated…in a plastic hold…then runs through the plastic pieces, and then through the plastic lid to my coffee pot. Bah. No, thank you! So I started to use this Farberware percolator that has all metal pieces, and I have been in love with it ever since. It’s a simple process to make your coffee each day, and doesn’t take much more effort than a typical, convenient pot. It’s cost-efficient and I can say I feel a little better drinking my cup each day (or three!). And most people will say, it actually makes a better cup of coffee!

There are gorgeous spring pieces that you can make darling touches around your home for minimal effort AND minimal money. Follow along here at growingupkemper.com, on Instagram @growingupkemper, Pinterest @growingupkemper, and on LTK for a new spring round-up from some of my favorite stores.
