When I redid my front porch this summer, I would be laying bricks in the scorching heat dreaming of fall days when I could put pretty mums and warm colors on the porch. I think the main reason I wanted to create a faux wood door was to add such a warmth and richness against the brick…and hang a gorgeous fall wreath on it. š

This past weekend, I worked to decorate my front porch for fall and I just adore how it all came together. Soft textures with the wicker baskets, twine covered pumpkins and jute rug, cozy colors within the flowers and stems I added to my wheat wreath, and warm light that comes from my candles inside the lanterns.
To see how it “quickly” comes together (you’ll get it once you watch!), check out my Instagram Reel below.

I also broke down the steps I took for my Faux Wood Door HERE for you to reference. It still fools even the best eyes!

Front Door Wreath
To compliment the red brick tones against the wood, I wanted to bring in a lot of soft neutrals with my white flower pots, wicker baskets, and jute rug. Against the door, I went with an older wheat wreath I got from Target (no longer sold) and added fall stems I purchased from the Dollar Tree. It was an easy addition to an already beautiful wreath. I really don’t like spending much on a wreath because I am constantly changing up what I want to hang. That can become such a costly decoration if you are always wanting something different. To save money, I will typically create my own using stems from Dollar Tree and Michael’s in a grapevine wreath I have used for YEARS or I will take a wreath I already own and add stems to it. Dollar Tree has some really pretty ones for just $1.25 each. You do have to buy a lot to give it the bulk, but if you are adding stems to an old wreath, this can be such a cost-efficient way to make a change!

Warm Textures
I knew I wanted brighter flowers on the porch, so I went with neutral accents with my front door rug, basket, and twine wrapped pumpkins. I found this gorgeous 2′ x 3′ accent rug by Dave & Jenny at Walmart and it was a perfect jute texture with subtle white design. I instantly fell in love! And don’t even get me started on the fringe sides. I swoon!

Instead of going with only stark white pots, I chose to include an oversized basket and fill it with faux greenery from Michael’s. I placed several plastic pots and rocks at the base of the basket to give it weight but also add height so I didn’t have to fill the whole basket. Next, I layered in a row of greenery foam and then stuck in 10 stems in. I don’t typically include greens on my front porch but it just seemed to work so well this year!

This thrifted basket is full of recycled material to give the pieces inside more height, and then I tucked in a pot of gorgeous yellow Coreopsis, pumpkins, and moss.

To create the twine pumpkins, I found this pumpkin wreath form from the Dollar Tree and bent it to be a full pumpkin shape and then zip tied it in place.

I covered each metal bar with double sided tape to give something for my twine to hold on to, and then I wrapped it horizontally first with twine and then finished it off by covering the entire pumpkin vertically in twine. I tucked in my favorite remote controlled twinkle lights and these look like a solid look alike for the Pottery Barn Lit Pumpkins!
Dashes of Color

I love these terracotta colored pots I snagged from Walmart this summer. They worked so well with bright summer flowers and then transitioned fabulously into fall with their warm color. I packed those with cabbage, ornamental peppers, and pretty mums. My white pot is a Home Goods find from MANY years ago, but always makes for the perfect backdrop that can be filled with pretty white flowers to the brightest of yellows and reds. I love a white pot on a front porch to give the prettiest, classic look!

Finally, I added several of my favorite Walmart lanterns around the pots and pumpkins and added pillar candles of various sizes. Check out any designer website and lanterns are on every front porch. Even if you never light the candles, they bring a warmth and a welcome entrance to every home. I love having the on every fall and winter front porch!
