Today I’m sharing my very favorite spa-like and bold bathroom paint colors, along with real-life examples of the paint colors in the home. Sometimes we just need to see more than a paint dot to know if we like it, right?
Next week starts a 12-day stint where we will have guests in and out of our home on a pretty regular basis. Woohoo! That means family time, friends in from out of town, and seeing faces I haven’t seen for far too long. One of the great perks of our home is that our guest bedroom is located in our basement, away from the hustle and bustle of three toddlers and two dogs, and has a full bathroom ready for our guests to unload their toiletries, stock the shower, and not worry about anyone else in the house.
Currently, our guest bathroom is “done,” but “really far from done.”

A builder-grade vanity and cabinet, inexpensive faucet and hardware, and walls that have seen better days. It’s fine. It’s nice. It’s not an eye sore by any stretch. But after completing our basement laundry room with the One Room Challenge, I have the motivation and a slight time crunch to make this space just a little better with a quick weekend remodel before our guests arrive.
On the To Do List:
- Demo builder-grade vanity cabinet
- Paint walls (see below for my favorite bathroom paint options!)
- Install new cabinet, vanity, and sink
- Install new towel bars, holders, and hooks
- Make it pretty with a new rug
The most dramatic change is going to be the paint color, as I feel it always is. Paint is transformative. It can take a space from fun and flirty to bold and classic. From rustic farmhouse to modern in a brush stroke. With 4th of July sales still ringing in the hardware stores, paint can be purchased for minimal cost and for a maximum bang.
Currently, the guest bathroom is painted Benjamin Moore Decorators White with a little DIY herringbone stripe in Sherwin Williams Naval. It was a simple, fun project using a little bit of stripe to liven up what once was a very dull room. But now it’s time for a change for my guests and it’s back to the paint samples for another quick and easy room makeover with little money spent.
So I’m looking to some of my favorite paint colors that are tried and true and beautiful in any space.
