Zinus Mattress for Murphy Bed

Earlier this year, I built my very favorite project to date, a murphy bed with built-in cabinets and bookcases! I used Murphy Bed Depot for the bed kit and then built the cabinets and bookcases that matched the dimensions of our guest room. It’s beautiful, it’s functional, and we have gained a brand new office by storing our bed away when we aren’t using it. It’s been a game-changer for our home!

Since we are only entertaining guests here occasionally through the year, most times, the bed it put away safely in the wall. Our previous mattress was an older mattress with springs, and having it standing vertically the bulk of the year was taking a toll on its shape. It would sag slightly and we were concerned that it would potentially damage our mattress over time.

It was old and it wasn’t what we needed any longer, so I went to work finding the right mattress for the space. I wanted a mattress to be a memory foam to allow it to keep its shape even when it’s being stored vertically. I wanted one that was firm, that was temperature controlled for our guests to keep comfortable, and one that was supportive enough that guests wouldn’t be disturbed by the movement of the other person in bed. PLUS, I wanted it to not be ridiculously expensive…because mattresses can be just that. Way too pricey.

I’ve purchased from Zinus when I was buying my children’s mattresses and for the amount of times I’ve fallen asleep in their beds while putting my kids to bed showed me just how comfortable theirs were! I started to read the reviews on their Green Tea Memory Foam mattress and I was amazed at how many people have switched from MORE EXPENSIVE mattresses to the budget-friendly Zinus mattress. Review after review raved about this mattress. So many were repeat customers which is a major sign of a good product.

I scanned and searched online for a product that even came close to the reviews of the Green Tea Memory Foam mattress and I couldn’t find one that was as reasonably priced. I was sold. And guys, it’s glorious!

Very firm, no bounce, holds its shape even when it’s put away in the wall, and is the perfect final step to this murphy bed project! I’m thrilled with my purchase from Zinus, and believe me, you won’t be either!
