Buy It Over Build It: Murphy Beds

I just revealed my DIY murphy bed built-ins in my basement guest room this week and WHEW! It was a lot of work but it is perfectly customized to what I was needing.

Extra storage: Check. Built-in shelves to make the room a bit more “pretty” and store some of necessary items for my guests: Check. A bed that is there for guests when they arrive, but tucked nicely away when they are not: Check. A room that has completely opened up in our home without having to pay for a costly addition, move kids into a room together, or chop our master in half to make another room: Check.

I was blown away when I saw this for the first time and I’ve talked to many about how this could be used in their homes to save them major space while taking up minimal room itself.
