Oh My, Yummly

I spend countless hours each month searching and scanning Pinterest to find recipes that sound good, look good, have all the right ingredients that every member of the family will eat, and on and on and on.  I search general ingredients or type of food I’m feeling, and then get lost in a totally overwhelming space.

Anyone else spend their Sunday’s meal planning in a Pinterest black hole??

I knew there had to be something better, and GUYS, I FOUND IT!!

Introducing…Yummly.com.

This site is amazingly easy to navigate and has the greatest collection of recipes from top sites…Damn Delicious, All Recipes, and top food bloggers out there.  Right in the search bar, you have the ability to search by a single ingredient, type of dish, ethnicity, ANYTHING.  I actually have like 7 cans of black beans in my pantry right now, so I just typed in “black beans” and had a slew of amazing recipes pop up.  Found one that was DELISH!

And these pictures!!  I’m a visual girl and these make it so much easier to find just what I’m looking for.

And when you search, Yummly asks a question to help filter out to get a better assortment to choose from.

Have an allergy or a total hatred for a certain ingredient?  Eat gluten free?  You can filter all searches by nutrition, taste, allergies, and diets, too! Seriously, they state on their site that you can, “Narrow down your search with filters that control the diet, allergy, nutrition, ingredients, time, course, occasion, and more, allowing you to find exactly the recipe you want.” By time?! By occasion? See why I love this so??

Final amazing perk, beside every recipe there is a “Yum!” button.  Click on the button and you can instantly save your recipes for easy access.  Save under their categories of dinner, breakfast, sides, etc.  Or you can add your own collection and be more specific, like “Chicken Recipes,” “BBQ,” etc.  Customize all you’d like to make this the easiest, the fastest, and the most convenient way to meal plan.

Oh, and it gets better.  As you save more recipes, it begins to learn what you like and don’t like and will customize your main page for you.  It will show you recipes to try out based on your history.  As you save more, it learns more, and does more of the work for you.

Try it out.  Like now!  You’ll thank me later! 🙂
