It’s What’s Up Wednesday!!
The last Wednesday of every month, I link-up with other blogs to share just what we’ve been up to lately. A little food, a little books, a little what I’m loving, and a whole lot of pictures of life around here in the Kemper family. So here’s what’s happening on Day 584 of quarantine…
What We’re Eating

If you missed it, I posted this Caprese Burger recipe on Monday. So juicy, so fresh, so good! It has awesome flavor in the actual burger itself (a really good throw on the grill and top it with whatever you want burger recipe), but the balsamic glaze mixed with fresh basil, mozzarella, and tomatoes were incredible. This one is most certainly in our summer rotation!
What I’m Reminiscing About
Being in public…

Dressing up and actually having somewhere to go…:)

Being with family…

And being with family AT a restaurant…

Being with friends again…

Going to Target…:)

What I’m Loving
I was planning on doing another version of Friday Favorites soon with some of my favorite purchases, but this one is a great one I have to share now.
Every spring I like to get my rings professionally cleaned and redipped. A little freshening up. A little spring cleaning for my jewelry. With everything being closed right now, I was on the hunt for a product that does a great job at home instead, so I took to Amazon and found Connoisseurs 1050 Diamond Dazzle Stik.
Before, my rings were clouded, scratched and dull…

Three minute of time and they were shining!!

3,000 5-star reviews and AWESOME before and after photos did NOT lie. Scratches were filled in with the tiny polymers and my diamonds and settings on my ring were sparkling. I loved how little I used, too. At under $6, it’s going to last forever and save me some major money not getting in professionally done.
What We’ve Been Up To
We start every day trying to do a little preschool. Some days are great and some days we completely fail. But that’s life, right? Sometimes we just need to stop, regroup, and try it all over again another time. I’m willing to give myself a little grace and know that playing is the most important part of their growth right now. Let them learn through playing and they’ll be juuusst fine.

We are doing all we can to be outside…

Catching up with friends…

Getting so big…

And doing big kid things all of a sudden…

What I’m Working On
I’ve been holding back and haven’t gone out much at all the last 6 weeks, but I’m currently plotting and planning my summer garden in preparation for a big Mother’s Day outing to the garden center. Hide kid your, hide your wife…I’m coming for all the flowers and plants! 🙂
Last year, I did a series every Monday called “What I’m Gardening This Week…” It was so nice to garden along with you and it certainly kept me focused on planting schedules and watering routines!
This year, since I stayed home, I’m getting a little later start than normal so my garden won’t be as large. I may even try my hand at more container gardens and less larger beds this year. 🤷♀️

One year I’ll get my yard looking like this scene…one day, right?! 🙂

What I’m Excited About
A little normalcy around here.
What I’m Watching/Reading
We finished what I have deemed one of my “Top 5 Shows” this month and I’m already having a little withdrawal.

This show was the perfect mix of humor and positivity and I loved everything about it. The actors are so fantastic, the quotable lines are endless, and the season finale was better than I could have ever dreamed. Schitt’s Creek, you were wonderful and I’ll forever use the phrase, “Ew, David.” 🙂
On Thursday, I’ll post my April Book Review!! I read four books this month that included two books that might be top 2 books of the year. So, so good! I can’t wait to talk books with you then!
If you missed any of my previous book reviews, you can find my January, February and March ones to catch a peek at just what I’ve been reading this year!
What I’m Listening To
I’m currently listening to my dear husband cheering on the KC Royals on an old ALCS game from the 2014 season. I swear he knows exactly what happens at each pitch, each play, but is still as into this game as if it’s his first time watching.
Oh sports…he misses you. 🙂

What I’m Wearing
Leggings…joggers…leggings…then some joggers…and then…:)
The first time I wore these shorts, Jerod looked at me dead in the eyes and says, “Denim? Why are you trying to make me look bad?” We’re all taking the comfy and casual stance around here!
But I’ve got to say, these Target shorts were a true gift to myself. Coming off my third babe, let’s just say this body isn’t the same as it once was. The weight’s coming off but things are just…different. So when I took to online shopping to find new summer clothes, I was constantly seeing people rave about thes shorts. And for such good reason! High waisted, perfect length, just the right amount of distressing, and a little stretch to make them comfy enough to even quarantine in.
Oh! And they’re just $18. Win-win-win-WIN!

What I’m Doing This Weekend
This wallpaper and that popcorn ceiling are going to meet their match this weekend…

The kid’s bathroom is getting a full DIY remodel and I’m 90% done taking down the wallpaper and getting the glue removed. After scraping the ceilings and doing a major clean-up, it’s time to build it back up again and take you along for the ride. Just another room to check off on our little Fixer Upper remodel.
What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month
I turn the big 3-5 next month and I’m excited to spend it low-key with my crew. A year older and thankful for it!
What Else is New
I think that’s it for this month!
Stay safe and healthy, everyone. 🤍
Okay, I’ve heard so many people rave about Schitt’s Creek that I may have to check it out. We don’t have Netflix so I’ll have to see if I can get it from the library — if it ever opens again 🙁
Also, I’ve been streaming old Blue Jays’ games on YouTube so I’m right there with your husband. Even though I know how a lot of games end, it absolutely helps fill my the baseball sized hole in my life.
I love that you’re streaming old games, too! It’s amazing how much I miss having a game on in the background as I make dinner or look forward to an afternoon game on a beautiful Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Soon!! We’ll get it back soon!
Oh my goodness; that burger looks amazing! You are right– let them play and learn through play as much as you can. It’s amazing what kids will pick up through play.
You are so right! I love seeing their imagination, their creativity, and how their social skills are developing with more play with one another!
